Michael Urie Will Join Broadway’s How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying in January

Michael Urie will assume the role of Bud Frump in Broadway’s How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, playing at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on January 24. He replaces Christopher J. Hanke, who will play his final performance on January 22.

Urie is currently appearing in Classic Stage Company’s production of The Cherry Orchard. Among his other stage credits are the recent revival of Angels in America and the world premiere production of The Temperamentals. He is best known for his role as Marc St. James on television’s Ugly Betty.

Urie will join a company that also stars Nick Jonas, who, as previously reported will play the role of J. Pierrepont Finch, January 24- July 1, and Beau Bridges, who, as previously announced, will assume the role of J.B. Biggley, on January 3.

Directed and choreographed by Rob Ashford, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, with a score by Frank Loesser and a book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock, and Willie Gilbert, follows a wily window washer on his riotous rise up the corporate ladder.

In addition to Hanke, the show currently stars Daniel Radcliffe as J. Pierrepont Finch, John Laroquette as J.B. Biggley, Rose Hemingway as Rosemary Pilkington, Tammy Blanchard as Hedy La Rue, Christopher J. Hanke as Bud Frump, Rob Bartlett as Twimble/Wally Womper, Mary Faber as Smitty, Ellen Harvey as Miss Jones, Michael Park as Bert Bratt, and Anderson Cooper, making his Broadway debut, as the voice of the narrator.
