Justin Kirk will take over the role of Trip Wyeth in Lincoln Center Theater’s Broadway production of Jon Robin Baitz’s Other Desert Cities, beginning January 10.

He will be replacing Thomas Sadoski, who continues in the role through January 8, aside from the previously reported period of December 5-25, when it will be covered by Sadoski’s understudy, Matthew Risch.

Kirk won an Obie for his performance in Love! Valour! Compassion!, and last appeared at Lincoln Center Theater in Baitz’s Ten Unknowns, for which he won a Lucille Lortel Award and garnered Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations. His other stage credits include The Understudy, The World Over, Any Given Day, Old Wicked Songs and June Moon. The actor is well known to television audiences for his portrayal of Andy Botwin on Showtime’s acclaimed series Weeds, and received Emmy and Screen Actors Guild nominations for his performance as Prior Walter in Mike Nichols HBO adaptation of Angels in America.

In Other Desert Cities, directed by Joe Mantello, Brooke Wyeth, a once promising novelist, returns home after a six-year absence to celebrate Christmas in Palm Springs with her parents, former members of the Reagan inner-circle, her brother, and her aunt. When Brooke announces that she is about to publish a memoir focusing on an explosive chapter in the family’s history, the holiday reunion is thrown into turmoil and the Wyeths are both bound together and torn apart as they struggle to come to terms with their past.

The company also features Stockard Channing, Rachel Griffiths, Stacy Keach, and Judith Light.
