Douglas Carter Beane to Write New Book for Broadway-Bound Cinderella

Three-time Tony Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane will write the script for a new production of the 1957 musical Cinderella, which features music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, which is aiming to opening next season on Broadway. The show will be produced by Robyn Goodman and Aged in Wood Productions.


In Beane’s new book, it is now Cinderella’s turn to rescue the Prince. In addition to musical numbers from the original score — including “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible/It’s Possible,” “Ten Minutes Ago” and “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful?” — this new production will include several songs from the Rodgers & Hammerstein catalogue.


Beane is currently represented on Broadway as the librettist of Lysistrata Jones, and Sister Act, He is also the author of the book for the musicals Xanadu and his plays include The Little Dog Laughed and As Bees In Honey Drown.
