Brent Barrett to Return to Broadway’s Chicago December 19

Brent Barrett will once again play the role of Billy Flynn in the Broadway production of Chicago, at the Ambassador Theatre, beginning on Monday, December 19. He replaces John O’Hurley, who will play his final performance on Sunday, December 18.

With a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, the Broadway revival of Chicago has been directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking. The creative team includes John Lee Beatty (scenic design), William Ivey Long (costume design), Ken Billington (lighting design), and Scott Lehrer (sound design).

Barrett’s recent credits include the role of Ben in Follies at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, and originating the role of Dr. Hannibal (The Cannibal!) Lecter in Silence! The Musical Off-Broadway. In addition to playing Billy Flynn numerous times before, his other Broadway credits include Annie Get Your Gun , Dance a Little Closer, Grand Hotel, Candide, Brigadoon and West Side Story. In London’s West End, he has appeared in Kiss Me, Kate, for which he received an Olivier Award nomination, and Grand Hotel.

The Broadway production of Chicago also currently stars Charlotte d’Amboise as Roxie Hart, Bahiyah Hibah as Velma Kelly, Chris Sullivan as Amos Hart and Carol Woods as Matron “Mama” Morton. Longtime Chicago veteran Raymond Bokhour will appear in the role of Amos Hart from December 19 through January 1.
