Terry McMillan to Participate in Talkback and Booksigning Following December 4 Matinee of Broadway’s Fela!

Best-selling author Terry McMillan will join the cast of Broadway’s Fela!, performing at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre, for a post-show discussion following the Saturday, December 4, 2pm matinee performance.

Fela! is directed and choreographed by Bill T. Jones, with a book by Jim Lewis and Jones. The musical is about Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s controversial life as artist, political activist, and revolutionary musician.

The talkback will focus on the importance of telling stories from the Africa Diaspora. Special emphasis will be placed on how stories of black communities are told and who tells them. Additionally, they will talk about how and why the arts are used as vital agents of social, cultural and political change. Patrick L. Riley will moderate.

Immediately following the discussion, Ms. McMillan will sign copies of her latest book, Getting to Happy, the sequel to her blockbuster novel Waiting to Exhale. The book signing will take place at Serafina Restaurant in The Time Hotel, 224 W. 49th Street.
