Teal Wicks, Kyle Dean Massey to Join Broadway’s Wicked

Teal Wicks will assume the role of Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked, playing at the Gershwin Theatre, on February 1. It has also been announced that Kyle Dean Massey will reprise his performance as Fiyero in the show, beginning with the performance on January 25.

Wicks has played the role of Elphaba in both the San Francisco and Los Angeles companies of the musical. Among her other credits are the national tour of Pippin and Stairway to Paradise at New York City Center Encores!. In addition, she is currently appearing in The Blue Flower at American Repertory Theatre.

Massey is currently appearing on Broadway in Next to Normal. His other theater credits include Xanadu on Broadway, Altar Boyz Off-Broadway, and the North American and Japan tours of 42nd Street.

Wicks and Massey will join a company which also includes Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda), Kathy Fitzgerald (Madame Morrible), P.J. Benjamin (The Wizard), Jenny Fellner (Nessarose), Etai BenShlomo (Boq), and Tom Flynn (Dr. Dillamond).

Based on Gregory Maguire’s novel of the same name, Wicked tells the untold story of the witches of Oz, and how they grew to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good. The musical features a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.
