Composer Zina Goldrich & lyricist Marcy Heisler received the ASCAP Foundation Jamie deRoy & Friends Award on Wednesday, December 8 as part of the ASCAP Foundation 15th Annual Awards Ceremony, held at the Allen Room, Frederick P. Rose Hall.
The ceremony also included top honors to vocal great Tony Bennett and his wife, Susan Benedetto, for their longtime leadership in the effort to make arts education a priority in the nation’s public schools.
Among Goldrich and Heisler’s other honors are the Fred Ebb Award for Musical Theatre Songwriting; a 2009 Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Lyrics and Music for Dear Edwina; and Lucille Lortel Award nominations for Junie B.Jones.
Founded in 1975, The ASCAP Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to supporting American music creators and encouraging their development through music education and talent development programs.
