Soho Rep has announced a quartet of special events to be held in conjunction with its upcoming production of Jomama Jones: Radiate.

The first will be a post-performance conversation to be held on January 6, which will feature members of the production’s creative and design team, to be moderated by Raphael Martin, the theater’s literary and humanities manager.

Performing Gender, which will be offered on January 7 at 9pm, will feature playwright/actor Taylor Mac, MilDred Gerestant (the artist formerly known as Dred) and Daniel Alexander Jones. Djola Branner, associate professor of theatre at Hampshire College, will moderate the conversation.

On January 13 at 9pm, the theater will host a CD release event for Jones’ new CD, also entitled Radiate. The event will include open bar and CD-signing.

The fourth event will be held on January 14 at 9:00pm, when Jones, along with Deborah Paredez, a professor from the University of Austin, and pop star Nona Hendrix, tackle the question of “What is a Diva?” in a panel to be moderated by online columnist Rich Juwziak.

In related news the theater has announced that the December 31 performance of Jomama Jones: Radiate, will be a special New Years Eve event, with the performance beginning at 9:30 to be followed by a celebration in the theater, with a midnight champagne toast and the chance for theatergoers to perform with Jones’ band.

Directed by Kym Moore and featuring musical direction by Bobby Halvorson, the show tells a classic American comeback story, as it chronicles Jones’ life and career highs and lows.

The band for the show will be led by Halvorson and feature Ted Cruz, Sean Dixon, Michael O’Brien and Kelly Rossum. The creative team will include Arnulfo Maldonado (set design), Lucrecia Briceno (lighting design), Oana Botez-Ban (costume design), and Nick Kourtides (sound design).
