Neil Patrick Harris will star as Robert in the New York Philharmonic’s concert presentation of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s Company, to be offered April 7-9 at Avery Fisher Hall. Lonny Price will direct the performances, which will be conducted by Paul Gemignani and feature the original orchestrations for a 35-piece orchestra by Jonathan Tunick.

The show follows five married, once-married, and soon-to-be-married couples and their mutual friend, Robert (Harris), a bachelor who has been unable to connect in a long-term relationship. Among the songs familiar from the score are “Side by Side by Side,” “The Ladies Who Lunch,” “Another Hundred People,” and “Being Alive,” as well as the musical’s title number. Additional casting and creative team will be announced shortly.

Harris’ stage credits include Assassins, Rent, Sweeney Todd and All My Sons, and he directed the Hollywood Bowl concert staging of Rent earlier this year. He won 2010 Emmy Awards for hosting the 2009 Tony Awards, and for his guest starring role on Glee. He was also nominated for his work on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother.
