Mark Rylance will reprise his Olivier Award-winning performance as Johnny "Rooster" Byron in a Broadway production of Jez Butterworth's Jerusalem. The production is scheduled to begin performances on April 2 at the Music Box Theatre, in anticipation of an official opening on April 21. Ian Rickson will once again stage the piece, which premiered at London's Royal Court Theatre.

The play focuses on Rooster, a former daredevil motorcyclist and modern-day Pied Piper. The production will also feature Mackenzie Crook, who will once again play Rooster's friend Ginger. Additional casting -- which is expected to include most of the original Royal Court cast -- will be announced in the near future.

Rylance is currently starring on Broadway in La Bête. He won a Tony for Boeing-Boeing, and his other recent credits also include the West End production of Endgame. He is widely recognized as one of the world's most prominent Shakespearean actors, and is the former artistic director of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.
