Tony Award winner Kevin Spacey will play the title role in Shakespeare’s Richard III, as part of the final season of The Bridge Project, beginning at the Old Vic on June 18, before coming to BAM’s Harvey Theatre in January 2012.

Sam Mendes will direct the production. Additional casting and creative team will be announced at a later date.

The Bridge Project is a three-year collaboration between the Brooklyn Academy of Music, London’s Old Vic Theatre (under the artistic direction of Spacey) and Mendes’ Neal Street Productions.

Spacey previously worked with Mendes on the film American Beauty, which won them both Academy Awards.
