Jeanna de Waal will replace original cast member Mary Faber as Heather in the Broadway production of American Idiot, at the St. James Theatre, beginning with tonight’s performance, December 14. Faber, who will soon appear as Smitty in the Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, played her final performance on Sunday, December 12.

The musical features a score by Green Day. It is directed by Michael Mayer, who wrote the book with the band’s frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, and features choreography by Steven Hoggett. It follows working-class characters from the suburbs to the city to the Middle East, as they seek redemption in a world filled with frustration.

The principal cast also includes Tony Award winner John Gallagher Jr., Tony Award Nominee Stark Sands, Michael Esper, Rebecca Naomi Jones, and Christina Sajous. As previously reported, Armstrong will play a limited engagement as St. Jimmy, beginning January 1.

Waal is making her Broadway debut. She recently appeared in the West End production of We Will Rock You.
