Glee‘s Ryan Murphy, Peter Morgan, Eric Overmyer, Penn & Teller, et al. Receive 2010 WGA Awards TV Nominations

The 2010 WGA Awards TV nominations have been announced. The prizes will be presented in ceremonies to be held in New York and Los Angeles on February 5.

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan has received two nominations, both in the Long Form Adaptation Category. With Graham Yost, Schenkkan has been nominated for The Pacific, “Part Four;” and with Michelle Ashford, he has been nominated for The Pacific, “Part Eight.” Other nominees are playwright John Pielmeier (The Pillars of the Earth) and Christopher Monger and William Merritt Johnson (Temple Garden).

Peter Morgan is one of the two nominees in the Long Form- Original category for HBO’s The Special Relationship. Adam Mazer has also been nominated in this category for You Don’t Know Jack, also seen on HBO.

The nominations for the best Drama Series award are Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Friday Night Lights, and Mad Men. Among the writers who contribute to these series are such playwrights as Bridget Carpenter and Rolin Jones for Friday Night Lights; Keith Huff for Mad Men; and Howard Korder for Boardwalk Empire.

Additional theater veterans who have been nominated include Penn Jillette and Teller for their series, Bullshit, and Eric Overmyer for his work on HBO’s Treme.

In the comedy series field, the team from Glee, led by Ryan Murphy, was nominated. The other shows in the category are Modern Family, Nurse Jackie, The Office, and 30 Rock
