The cast members will ring the NYSE Closing Bell at 4pm, which will be followed by performances on Broad Street at 5pm and the illumination of the Christmas Tree at 5:15pm.
Elf, based on the 2003 film of the same name, tells the story of Buddy (Arcelus), a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole. Buddy is raised unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity.
The musical is currently performing at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre through January 2. Tony Award nominee Casey Nicholaw has directed and choreographed the show, which features songs by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, and a book by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin.
The NYSE event is open to the public, and will also feature a special appearance by Santa Claus.
