David Mamet to Voice Cartoon Version of Himself on The Simpsons

Playwright David Mamet will voice a cartoon version of himself on the FOX series, The Simpsons, according to EW.com.

The episode, which will air on January 23, features Mamet as a writer on a fictional 1980s sit-com that Homer Simpson becomes obsessed with. The Mamet character appears in a documentary about the show.

Mamet was most recently represented on Broadway by a revival of his A Life in the Theatre, as well as productions of Race, Oleanna, Speed-the-Plow, and American Buffalo. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Glengarry Glen Ross and was nominated for the award for The Cryptogram. In addition, he received Oscar nominations for his screenplays for The Verdict and Wag the Dog.
