Broadway’s Rock of Ages to Move to Helen Hayes Theatre

The musical Rock of Ages will go on a temporary hiatus, ending its run at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on January 9. The production will then re-open at the Helen Hayes Theatre in mid-March. A first performance date will be announced shortly.

Rock of Ages focuses on a young rocker hungry for his big break and a small town girl who meet in 1987 at a legendary Hollywood club facing its imminent demise. The score includes the hit songs of iconic rockers like REO Speedwagon, as well as Journey, Styx, Foreigner, Pat Benatar, Whitesnake, and many more. The musical’s book is written by Chris D’Arenzio. Kristin Hanggi has directed the production, which features choreography by Kelly Devine.

The current Broadway cast features Joey Taranto, Emily Padgett, Mitchell Jarvis, Jay Klaitz, Michele Mais, Josephine Rose Roberts, Paul Schoeffler, Derek St. Pierre, Jenifer Foote, Ericka Hunter, Michael Minarik, Julie Nelson, Justin Matthew Sargent, Matthew Stocke, Sarrah Strimel, Andre Ward, Katie Webber and Jeremy Woodard, as well as Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider who plays Dennis through December 24.

In related news, it has been announced that RAIN – A Tribute to The Beatles On Broadway will become the next show at the Atkinson, beginning performances there on February 8.
