Brandon Victor Dixon to Star as James Brown in December 17 Tribute Concert

Tony nominee Brandon Victor Dixon will star as James Brown in the one-night only tribute concert, Indomitable: James Brown The Music and The Man, to be presented at Le Poisson Rouge, on Friday, December 17 at 8pm. Patricia McGregor will direct.

The piece, presented in conjunction with the anniversary month of Brown’s passing, and will also feature Burnt Sugar Arkestra in a performance that combines elements of dance and multi-media. The song list includes classics such as: “I Feel Good,” “Say it Loud,” “Man’s World,” “Please Please,” “Hot Pants,” “I Don’t Want Nobody to Give Me Nothing,” and “Superbad.”

Critically acclaimed author and Burnt Sugar Akrestra Founder, Greg Tate, will conduct the 18-piece orchestra. Performers will also include Imani Uzuri, Shelley Nicole, Lisala, Luqman Brown, LaFrae Sci, V. Jeffrey Smith, Latasha N. Nevada Diggs, Karma Mayet Johnson, “Moist” Paula Henderson, Jared Michael Nickerson, Mikel Banks, Lewis “Flip” Barnes, Micah Gaugh, Curtis Stewart, Will Martina, Avram Fefer, Andre Lassalle, Bruce Mack, Christopher Randolph, Tiffany Rachelle Stewart and Eddie Brown.
