Tony Award winner Rob Marshall's film version of the musical Nine will open the Dubai Film Festival on December 9, according to a report in Variety. The Festival continues through December 16 and will close with the regional premiere of James Cameron's Avatar.

Nine will open on December 18 in New York and Los Angeles followed by a wider release on Christmas Day. The musical, based on Federico Fellini's 8 ½, focuses on Guido Contini, a movie director, played by Oscar winner Daniel Day Lewis, and the myriad women in his life. The movie also stars Marion Cottilard as Luisa, Penelope Cruz as Carla, Nicole Kidman as Claudia, Judi Dench as Liliane LeFleur, Sophia Loren as Guido's mother, Kate Hudson as Stephanie, and Stacy Ferguson (aka Fergie) as Saraghina.
