Najla Said’s Palestine to Play 4th Street Theatre

Writer/performer Najla Saïd’s Palestine will premiere at the 4th Street Theatre, February 6 – March 21, presented by Twilight Theatre Company in association with New York Theatre Workshop. Sturgis Warner will direct the production.

In the piece, Saïd — daughter of the late Palestinian-American scholar and activist Edward Saïd — takes audiences into one of the most volatile and historic corners of the earth, presenting Palestinian and Arab points of view. The piece also includes an exploration of a family trip she took to the Middle East to visit her father’s homeland when she was a teenager, as well as impressions of the world post- 9/11.

Saïd’s stage credits include Heather Raffo’s solo play Nine Parts of Desire at Seattle Rep and the world-premiere of Prophecy at New End Theatre in London.

The creative team for the production will include Meghan E. Healey (scenic and costume design) and Ben Stanton (lighting design).
