As The World Turns, a serial staple on CBS for 54 seasons, will end its run next September, according to published reports.

Over the years, a host of New York’s stage luminaries or future luminaries have appeared on the show. Two-time Tony Award nominee Larry Bryggman played John Dixon on the show for nearly 40 years until his character was written off the series in 2004. Academy Award nominee Julianne Moore was also featured on the show, playing twins Frannie and Barbara Hughes from 1985 to 1988.

Currently, the show stars such stage notables as Kathleen Widdoes and Ellen Dolan, as well as Eileen Fulton, a regular on New York’s cabaret scene. Other actors who have appeared on the series include Marisa Tomei, Meg Ryan, Parker Posey, and James Earl Jones.
