LAByrinth Theatre co-founders Philip Seymour Hoffman and John Ortiz will co-star in a new production of William Shakespeare’s Othello, to be directed by Peter Sellars, according to a story in The New York Times Magazine.

In the production, which will play Vienna next summer before possibly coming to New York, Ortiz will play the title role and Hoffman will play Iago. No other details on the production were mentioned.

Hoffman is currently starring on the silver screen in Doubt, for which he has already received numerous awards and nominations. As mentioned in the article, he is also scheduled to direct and co-star in the upcoming version of Bob Glaudini’s Jack Goes Boating, in which he performed opposite Ortiz.

Sellars is best known for his work in opera, including noted productions of Cosi Fan Tutte, Nixon in China, The Death of Klinghoffer, and Doctor Atomic.
