Peter DuBois will become the Huntington Theatre Company’s Norma Jean Calderwood Artistic Director on July 1, succeeding longtime artistic director Nicholas Martin.

DuBois was mostly recently associate producer at New York’s Public Theater; while there, he also directed productions of David Grimm’s Measure for Pleasure (for which he also won the prestigious Joe A. Callaway Award for excellence in directing from the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers), Richard III with Peter Dinklage, and Bob Glaudini’s Jack Goes Boating, in collaboration with the LAByrinth Theatre Company and starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, John Ortiz, and Daphne Rubin-Vega. He was also formerly the artistic director of Alaska’s Perseverance Theatre Company.

Martin, who has been the company’s artistic director since 2000, will take over the leadership of the Williamstown Theatre Festival this summer. He is also a much-in-demand director.
