Tracy Letts and Amy Morton will star in the Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s production of Harold Pinter’s Betrayal, which will run January 25-May 27 in the company’s Upstairs Theatre. The production will be directed by Rick Snyder.

The play, which is told in backwards chronology, focuses on the seven-year affair between Jerry and Emma, who is married to Robert, Jerry’s best friend. Pinter is the author of such plays as The Caretaker, The Birthday Party, and No Man’s Land.

The cast also includes Steppenwolf ensemble members Ian Barford, Guy Barile, Shane Kenyon, Nettie Kraft, Pamela R. Maurer, and Ben Snyder.

Letts and Morton have worked together in numerous Steppenwolf productions, including Homebody/Kabul, The Well-Appointed Room, and Glengarry Glen Ross. Letts is also the author of the plays Killer Joe, Bug, and The Man from Nebraska.

The show has had two Broadway productions: The first was in 1980, with Roy Scheider, Blythe Danner, and Raul Julia; and the Roundabout Theatre produced the play in 2000, with Liev Schreiber, Juliette Binoche, and John Slattery. The 1983 film version starred Jeremy Irons, Patricia Hodge, and Ben Kingsley.
