Mary Testa will take over the role of Myra Kessleman, “the only white Jewish maid in America” in the Manhattan Theatre Club’s production of Paul Rudnick’s Regrets Only from star Jackie Hoffman, December 10-January 7. No reason was given for Hoffman’s leave of the absence from the show, but she is scheduled to return to the play on January 9.

Directed by Christopher Ashley, Regrets Only stars Tony Award winner Christine Baranski as socialite Tibby McCullough, whose plans for her daughter’s wedding are upset after her best friend, gay fashion designer Hank Hadley (George Grizzard) takes an unusual political action. The show, which opened on November 19, also stars David Rasche, Sian Phillips, and Diane Davis.

Testa is a two-time Tony nominee for her performances in 42nd Street and On the Town. Her many New York stage credits include Barnum, The Rink, Chicago, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Marie Christine, String of Pearls, First Lady Suite, and See What I Wanna See.
