Daytime Emmy Award winners Kevin Mambo and Darnell Williams will star in Michael I. Walker’s Blackout, January 6-27 at the Kirk Theatre at Theater Row. The production, to be directed by Kira Simring, will open officially on January 11.

Inspired by the works of James Baldwin, the show focuses on six strangers who collide on a street corner in Hell’s Kitchen during the 2003 New York City blackout. The production is the first play being presented by the Cell Theatre Company.

The show’s cast also includes Ryan Patrick Bachand, Teddy Bergman, Almeria Campbell, and Kate Goehring. The creative team features Gabriel Evanshohn (production design), Kristi Koury (costumes), and Travis Walker (sound).

Mambo appeared in the Off-Broadway musical Once Around the Sun and in the NYC Fringe Festival production of The Last Detail. Mambo won the Emmy for his role as Marcus Williams on Guiding Light. Williams appeared on Broadway in Checkmates and Angels in America. He won the Emmy for his role as Jesse Hubbard on All My Children.
