Dreamgirls Tops Broadcast Film Critics’ Nominations

Dreamgirls topped the list of the 12th annual Broadcast Film Critics’ Choice Award with seven nominations, including Best Picture.

The film version of the 1981 Broadway musical also received nominations for Eddie Murphy as Best Supporting Actor, Jennifer Hudson as Best Supporting Actress, Best Acting Ensemble, Bill Condon as Best Director, “Listen” as Best Song, and Best Soundtrack.

Three other films, Babel, The Departed, and Little Miss Sunshine, also received seven nominations, including Alan Arkin for Best Supporting Actor for the latter film.

Other notable nominees include Tony Award winner Judi Dench for Best Actress and Cate Blanchett for Best Supporting Actress for Notes on a Scandal; Helen Mirren for Best Actress and Peter Morgan for Best Screenplay for The Queen, and Meryl Streep as Best Actress for The Devil Wears Prada.
