The national tour of Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s Life will kick off at Cincinnati’s Aronoff Theatre, December 19-31. It will continue through June 10, with stops in such cities as Miami, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Seattle, Washington D.C., Boston, and Milwaukee.

Presented on Broadway last season, where it ran for three months, the show traces two-time Tony Award winner Rivera’s life and career from her childhood through her many theatrical triumphs, including West Side Story, Bye Bye Birdie, Chicago, and Kiss of the Spider Woman. The show has a book by Terrence McNally and original songs by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.

The tour will be directed and choreographed by Graciela Daniele, with scenic design by Loy Arcenas, costumes by Toni Leslie-James, lighting design by Beverly Emmons (based on the original Broadway design by Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer), and musical concepts, arrangements, and supervision by Mark Hummel. The music director will be Gordon Twist. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
