Corthron, Iizuka, Jones, Wright, et al. Set for 2007 Humana Festival

New works by Kia Corthron, Naomi Iizuka, Rolin Jones, and Craig Wright have been selected for the 2007 Humana Festival of New American Plays at the Actors Theatre of Louisville in Louisville Kentucky, February 25-April 7.

A highlight of this year’s festival will be The Open Road Anthology, written by Corthron, Jones, Constance Congdon, Michael John Garcés, A. Rey Pamatmat, and Kathryn Walat. The work will be directed by Will McAdams and feature music by the pop-rock trio Groovelily, whose show Striking 12 is in the midst of an Off-Broadway run.

The festival’s other offerings will be Iizuka’s Strike-Slip, about three diverse families in Los Angeles; directed by Chay Yew; Sherry Kramer’s solo play When Something Wonderful Ends, directed by Tom Moore; Carlos Murillo’s dark play or stories for boys, directed by Garcés, about a teenage boy’s online relationship; Ken Weitzman’s The As If Body Loop, about a woman’s mysterious illness, directed by Susan Booth; Wright’s The Unseen, about two prisoners of a totalitarian regime, directed by Marc Masterston; and Batch: An American Bachelor/ette Party conceived by Whit MacLaughlin and Alice Tuan.
