Brian d’Arcy James will join original British cast members Kerry Condon, Domhnall Gleeson, and David Wilmot in the Atlantic Theatre Company’s production of Martin McDonagh’s Olivier Award-winning play The Lieutenant of Inishmore. The production, to be directed by Wilson Milam, will run February 8-April 9 and will open officially on February 27.

Rounding out the cast are Jeff Binder, Andrew Connolly, Dashiell Eaves, and Peter Gerety. The show’s creative team will be announced at a later date.

McDonagh’s scorching black comedy is set in 1993 in County Galway on the rocky island of Inishmore, off the coast of Ireland. Padraic is a terrorist with no feeling for those he blows up; but when someone kills his beloved cat, Thomas, the death must be concealed before Padraic returns from a stint of torture and bombing. If not, the recriminations will be horrifying. McDonagh’s other plays include The Pillowman, The Lonesome West, and The Beauty Queen of Leenane.
