Bacall, Baldwin, et al. Slated for Drama League Salute to Comden and Green

The Drama League will salute the legendary musical theater writing team of Betty Comden and Adolph Green on Monday, January 31 in “A Musical Celebration of Broadway” at the Pierre Hotel in Manhattan. Lauren Bacall, Alec Baldwin, Lucie Arnaz, Judy Kaye, Laura Benanti, Victoria Clark, Gavin Creel, Lea DeLaria, Nancy Dussault, Melissa Errico, Debbie Gravitte, Dee Hoty, Cady Huffman, Marc Kudisch, Judy Kuhn, Dick Latessa, Donna McKechnie, Tony Roberts, and Charles Strouse are currently scheduled to perform in the event.

Comden and Green wrote the lyrics and/or book for such musicals as On the Town, Billion Dollar Baby, Wonderful Town, Bells Are Ringing, Do Re Mi, Subways Are for Sleeping, Fade Out — Fade In, Hallelujah, Baby!, Applause, On the Twentieth Century, A Doll’s Life, and The Will Rogers Follies. They also collaborated on the screenplay of the classic Hollywood film Singin’ in the Rain. Green died on October 24, 2002 at age 87.

The black-tie Drama League event will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Pierre Hotel, located at Fifth Avenue and 61st Street. Cocktails will begin at 7:30pm, followed by dinner and the performance. Tickets range in price from $500 to $2,500 and all contributions over $150 are tax-deductible.
