Doogie Howser, M.C.: Neil Patrick Harris to Join Broadway Cast of Cabaret

As a follow-up to unconfirmed reports last week, it has now been officially announced that Neil Patrick Harris will be taking over the role of the M.C. (or Emcee) in the Broadway production of on January 3.

Harris recently made his Broadway debut in Proof opposite Anne Heche. He appeared as Mark Cohen in the Los Angeles company of Rent and was Tobias Ragg in concert presentations of Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd by the New York Philharmonic and the San Francisco Symphony, having previously played that part in an L.A. Reprise! staging of the show starring Kelsey Grammer and Christine Baranski. Harris is best known to the general public for his title role as an adolescent doctor in the television series Doogie Howser, M.D.

Cabaret currently stars Molly Ringwald and Raul Esparza. The show is performed at Studio 54, located at 254 West 54th Street. Tickets may be purchase by phoning TeleCharge at 212-239-6200.
