Two-Time Obie Winner Ken Rus Schmoll Directs the New York Premiere of Grounded

Page 73 Productions will present the New York premiere of P73's 2013 Playwriting Fellowship finalist George Brant's new play Grounded in an off-Broadway production at Walkerspace in New York. The play made its debut earlier this year in productions through the National New Play Network's Rolling World Premiere program in San Francisco (San Francisco Playhouse) and Tucson, Arizona (Borderlands Theater), with another staging set for Kansas City (Unicorn Theater). Performances for the off-Broadway production will begin January 8, 2014, in advance of a January 16 opening.

Grounded tells the story of an ace fighter pilot whose unexpected pregnancy forces her to trade in her airborne career for one operating military drones from a windowless trailer outside the Las Vegas desert. As the pressure to track a high-profile target mounts, the boundaries begin to blur between the desert in which she lives and the one she patrols.

"We're especially excited to produce Grounded at a time when its questions mirror those in the national news every day."

Ken Rus Schmoll (Red Dog Howls) helms the production, which features Hannah Cabell (Collapse) in the leading role. The design team includes set and costume design by Arnulfo Maldonado, lighting design by Garin Marschall, and sound design by Jane Shaw.
