A week before its official opening, Second Stage Theatre's production of the new James Lapine and William Finn musical Little Miss Sunshine has extended its run by a week and will now close December 15. The production, which is also directed by Lapine, has already broken box-office records for the off-Broadway mainstay and has earned the highest pre-opening advance in the company's 35-year history.

Inspired by the Academy Award-winning 2006 film written by Michael Arndt, Little Miss Sunshine follows the members of a quirky family and their quest to realize the daughter's dream of appearing in a preteen beauty pageant. Leading the company are Tony nominees Stephanie J. Block and Will Chase, along with Hannah Nordberg, Rory O'Malley, David Rasche, Logan Rowland, Wesley Taylor, Josh Lamon, Jennifer Sanchez, Alivia Clark, Victoria Dennis, Miranda McKeon, and Leonay Shepherd.

Little Miss Sunshine features scenic and projection design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Jennifer Caprio, lighting design by Ken Billington, and sound design by Jon Weston. Choreography is by Michele Lynch. The music director is Vadim Feichtner, with orchestrations by Michael Starobin, and vocal and dance arrangements by Will Aronson.
