Spears: The Gospel According to Britney, a new stage production using the songs of pop singer Britney Spears to examine the life and times of Jesus Christ, will receive a reading in New York City on November 7 at the Foxwood Theatre's Studio A.

The reading is directed by Michael Bello, with musical direction by Max Druz. Patrick Blute is credited with creating the piece, which debuted in 2012 at Columbia University's Glicker-Milstein Theatre and is currently at the crossroads (get it?) of making it to the big time.

Spears is described as tugging "at the heartstrings of America's lost 20-somethings, calling on familiar hits such as "Stronger," "One More Time," and "Crazy" to describe the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ."

This is literally the only way another musical about Jesus would be justified.
