Hugh Jackman will finally be honored by one of the remaining New York entertainment organizations that has yet to recognize Hugh Jackman.

The Museum of the Moving Image will celebrate the Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, Outer Critics Circle, Theatre World, Emmy, and Teen’s Choice Award winner at its 27th annual “Salute” on December 11, held at New York’s famed Cipriani’s. The Salute, which awards recognition to the world’s most beloved performers, has previously been given to stars including Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, Clint Eastwood, Tom Hanks, and Goldie Hawn. For Jackman supporters who were not invited to the ceremony [us], Jackman can be seen and saluted as Jean Valjean in the upcoming film version of the Broadway musical Les Miserables.

A longtime Broadway darling, Jackman received a Tony Award for his acclaimed turn in The Boy from Oz, going on to play to sold-out crowds with co-star Daniel Craig in the two-hander A Steady Rain. A former host of the Tony Awards, Jackman was honored with a special Tony Award in June 2012, the same year his sold-out one-man show Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway packed the Broadhurst Theatre. His other stage credits include Oklahoma! The actor is best known, perhaps, to movie buffs as muscled superhero Wolverine in the X-Men series. His numerous additional film credits include Baz Luhrmann’s Australia, Darren Aronofsky’s The Fountain, and Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige.

Tony Award nominee and past Salute recipient Alec Baldwin (A Streetcar Named Desire), Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married), Tony Award winner Mike Nichols (Death of a Salesman), Tony Award winner Liev Schreiber (Glengarry Glen Ross), and Oscar winner/Oliver Award winner Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardner), will be among the guests expected to be on hand to toast Jackman.

Funds raised from the Salute support the programs, exhibitions, and educational activities of Museum of the Moving Image.
