Former Rebecca Star Ryan Silverman to Join Melissa Errico and Judy Kuhn in Sondheim’s Passion at CSC

Ryan Silverman, who was set to star as Maxim De Winter in the now-scuttled Broadway production of Rebecca, will play the role of Giorgio in Classic Stage Company‘s revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Tony Award-winning musical Passion,which begins previews on February 7 in advance of a February 28 opening.

Tony Award-winner John Doyle helms the production, which will star Tony Award nominees Judy Kuhn (Chess) and Melissa Errico (Amour).

Based on Ettore Scola’s film Passione d’Amour, the musical follows the love triangle of soldier Giorgio (Silverman), who is engaged in a long-distance affair with the married Clara (Errico). While away with his army regiment, he becomes the object of affection of Fosca, an unattractive and sickly older woman (Kuhn).

Silverman’s stage credits include The Phantom of the Opera, Cry-Baby, West Side Story, and Mamma Mia!.
