Chaplin Star Rob McClure Receives Sardi’s Caricature

Chaplin the Musical star Rob McClure received a caricature for the wall at the famed Sardi’s Restaurant during a post-matinee unveiling ceremony on Wednesday, November 15.

McClure originated the role of Charlie Chaplin in the La Jolla Playhouse production of Christopher Curtis and Thomas Meehan’s musical, which now runs on Broadway at the Barrymore Theatre. His stage credits also include the New York City Center Encores! production of Where’s Charley, Broadway’s Avenue Q, and I’m Not Rappaport, among many others.

Directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, Chaplin explores the rise and fall of legendary silent film actor/director Charlie Chaplin, from his days as a small-time London vaudevillian to his ascension to the heights of Hollywood.

The cast also includes Jim Borstelmann (Alf Reeves), Jenn Colella (Hedda Hopper), Erin Mackey (Oona O’Neill), Michael McCormick (Sennett, McGranery, Emcee), Christiane Noll (Hannah Chaplin), Zachary Unger (Young Charlie, Jackie), and Wayne Alan Wilcox (Sydney Chaplin).

Justin Bowen, Emilee Dupré, Sara Edwards, Leslie Donna Flesner, Lisa Gajda, Timothy Hughes, Ethan Khusidman, Ian Liberto, Renée Marino, Michael Mendez, Sarah O’Gleby, Hayley Podschun, Adam Rogers, William Ryall, Eric Santagata, and Emily Tyra are featured in the ensemble.
