Travesties of Shakespeare's plays were popular entertainment in Victorian England. Initially written as satires of the first "critical editions" of Shakespeare's plays, they were then produced on the stage.
Wolfson, Curator of Rare Books at London's Globe Theatre, traces the development of the Travesty, featuring scenes performed by actors Randy Harrison and John Douglas Thompson.
