Ralph Fiennes to Receive The Shakespeare Society Medal

Ralph Fiennes has been named as the recipient of The Shakespeare Society Medal, which will be presented to him at The Shakespeare Society’s benefit at the Rubin Museum of Art on Friday, December 9, beginning at 6pm.

Fiennes will be receiving the award in honor of his distinguished contributions to the world of William Shakespeare. The benefit will include an onstage conversation with Fiennes.

The actor won a Tony Award for his performance in Hamlet and received a Tony nomination for his work in The Faith Healer. In addition, he was nominated for Academy Awards for his roles in The English Patient and Schindler’s List. Among his numerous other film credits are turns as Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter movies, as well as his soon-to-be-released film version of Shakespeare’s Coriolanus and the in-production new James Bond movie, directed by Sam Mendes.

Proceeds will benefit The Shakespeare Society’s artistic and educational programming.
