PHOTO FLASH: Shirley Knight Visits Off-Broadway’s A Charity Case

Tony Award winner Shirley Knight attended the Friday, November 4 performance of the Off-Broadway production of A Charity Case, at the Clurman Theatre.

Written and directed by Wendy Beckett, the play examines the adoption triangle between a birth mother, the relinquishing mother and a 17-year-old daughter. The play stars Alison Fraser, Alysia Reiner and Jill Shackner.


Knight won a Tony Award for her performance in Kennedy’s Children. Her other Broadway credits include Horton Foote’s The Young Man From Atlanta and Lee Strasberg’s revival of The Three Sisters in 1964. Knight also earned Academy Award nominations for her work in The Dark at the Top of the Stairs and Sweet Bird of Youth. Among her most recent credits is playing Phyllis Van De Kamp on television’s Desperate Housewives.
