The Vineyard Theatre is postponing its new version of the Alan Jay Lerner-Burton Lane musical On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, which was previously announced to begin in January 2011. Press notes cite “unforeseen scheduling conflicts with the creative team” as the cause of the delay, and that the musical will now be seen during Fall 2011.

In addition, the developmental process that would have occurred in November and December of this year, will now take place this spring, culminating in a developmental lab production for Vineyard members.

This production has been reconceived and will be directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer, and will feature a new book by Peter Parnell based on the original by Lerner. The musical’s noted songs include “Come Back to Me”, “What Did I Have That I Don’t Have?” “She Wasn’t You” “Hurry! It’s Lovely Up Here” “Melinda” and the title tune.

The Vineyard will announce its next main stage production shortly.
