Chita Rivera was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2010 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) gala, held at The Hudson Theatre on Sunday, November 14. The evening also honored producers Barry and Fran Weissler “for their pioneering spirit and dedication to musical theatre.”
The evening included the presentation of the NYMF 2010 Awards for Excellence, which were awarded to artists such as Stafford Arima, Bobby Daye, Curtis Holbrook, Tom Kitt, Liz Larsen, Garrett Long, Liz McCartney, Anthony Rapp, Steve Rosen, and Rachel Stern. There were performances from the award-winning NYMF 2010 shows Frog Kiss, The Great Unknown, I Got Fired, My Mother’s Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding, Trails, and Without You. Joshua Henry, the star of The Scottsboro Boys, which is being produced on Broadway by the Weisslers, also performed.
Among the guests at the gala was Law & Order: SVU star and Broadway actress and producer Tamara Tunie, who served as production advisor for Frog Kiss.
