On Monday, November 1, Primary Stages held their Annual Gala at the Edison Ballroom to raise funds for the theater’s ongoing work. Michael Lavine directed the evening’s performances. The benefit included a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by dinner and entertainment.
The event honored Broadway producer, manager and agent Samuel “Biff” Liff, who received the Dedication to New Plays Award, which recognizes an individual’s or group’s contributions to the advancement of new plays. Tributes to Liff’s work came from Manny Azenberg, Marvin Einhorn, Angela Lansbury, Chita Rivera and Philip J. Smith.
At the gala, Alison Fraser, Marni Nixon, Jill O’Hara and Tony Roberts performed numbers from Guys & Dolls, Hello, Dolly, Mame, My Fair Lady, and Promises, Promises.
