Matt Leisy to Play Matt in The Fantasticks Off-Broadway

Matt Leisy will assume the role of Matt in the Off-Broadway company of The Fantasticks, playing at the Snapple Theatre Center, on December 6. He replaces Erik Altemus, who will play his final performance in the production on December 5. In addition, it has been announced that Matt Dengler will assume the role of The Mute, currently being played by Leisy.

Leisy’s other credits include productions at The York and NYMF as well as at such regional theaters as St. Louis Rep, Westchester Broadway, and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival.

Dengler was recently seen on Broadway in A Little Night Music. His other credits include Little Miss Sunshine, Babes in Toyland and High School Musical.

The Fantasticks, with music by Harvey Schmidt and book, lyrics and direction by Tom Jones, focuses on a boy and girl who fall in and out of love at the hands of their meddling fathers. The company also includes Edward Watts, Bill Bateman, MacIntyre Dixon, Tom Flagg, Gene Jones, Anne Markt, Michael Nostrand, Juliette Trafton, and Charles West.
