Jim Carnahan, Tony Kushner, Cindy Tolan, et al. Receive Casting Society of America’s Artios Awards

The winners of the Casting Society of America’s 2010 Artios Awards have been announced. The prizes were presented in ceremonies held in both Los Angeles, at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel, and New York, at the American Airlines Theatre, on November 1.

Winners in the awards’ Broadway categories include Cindy Tolan for her work on A View From the Bridge and Jim Carnahan for A Behanding in Spokane. In addition, Carnahan, along with Carrie Gardner, won in the NY Broadway Theatre – Musical category for the casting of American Idiot.

Additional winners include Alain Alldaffer for the casting of Circle Mirror Transformation at Playwrights Horizons and Judy Henderson’s work on The New Group’s production of A Lie of the Mind. Margery Simkin and Michael Donovan received the Los Angeles Theatre Award for casting Guys and Dolls, James Calleri won the Regional Theatre East Award for A Doll’s House, Erika Sellin received the Regional Theatre West Award for Parade.

In addition, the previously announced non-competitive awards were presented to playwright Tony Kushner, who has won the New York Apple Award; producer Marcy Carsey, who received the Career Achievement Award; and casting director Ellen Chenoweth, who was honored with the Hoyt Bowers Award.
