The York Theatre Company has announced preliminary casting for the next three musicals that will be presented publicly as part of its Developmental Reading Series.

Nancy Opel, Mark Price and Tom Alan Robbins will appear in Michael E. Dansicker’s Mr. & Mrs. Broadway, to be offered on December 7 at 3pm. The show, about a pair of octogenarian lyricists who are hoping for one more “day in the sun,” will be directed by David Zippel and feature music direction by Henry Aronson.

Vivian Metalon will direct Stephen Temperley’s new piece 9 Day Wonder, to be presented on December 14 at 3 and 7pm. Casting will be announced at a later date for this show about an academic specializing in Shakespeare’s clowns, who, while suffering a massive stroke, imagines himself to have become Will Kemp, a one-time member of the Bard’s troupe of players.

On December 16 at 7pm, Danette Holden, Howard Kaye, Michael Marcotte, and Laiona Michelle will appear in Barry Harman and Keith Herrmann’s Amazing Sex. Harman will direct and Herrmann, along with Matt Castle, will provide music direction for this revue that explores a variety of aspects of adult human sexuality.

York will also hold a private reading of The Green Heart, based on the short story by Jack Ritchie, on December 2. It features a book by Charles Busch, and music and lyrics by Rusty Magee.
