Green Day Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong to Return to Broadway’s American Idiot

Green Day frontman and American Idiot co-author Billie Joe Armstrong will return to that musical’s Broadway production for 50 performances at the St. James Theatre, beginning January 1.

He will once again play the role of St. Jimmy, which he previously performed this past September for a sold-out one-week run. He will perform in the show January 1-9, January 18-30, and February 10-27. Original Broadway cast member Tony Vincent will complete his run as St. Jimmy on Thursday, December 30.

The musical features a score by Green Day. It is directed by Michael Mayer, who wrote the book with Armstrong, and features choreography by Steven Hoggett.

The principal cast also includes Tony Award winner John Gallagher Jr., Tony Award Nominee Stark Sands, Michael Esper, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Christina Sajous, and Mary Faber. The cast also features Declan Bennett, Andrew Call, Gerard Canonico, Miguel Cervantes, Sydney Harcourt, Van Hughes, Brian Charles Johnson, Joshua Kobak, Lorin Latarro, Omar Lopez-Cepero, Leslie McDonel, Chase Peacock, Corbin Reid, Wallace Smith, Theo Stockman, Ben Thompson, Alysha Umphress, Aspen Vincent and Libby Winters.
