The Vineyard Theatre’s Vineyard Voices series will continue with The Scottsboro Boys: From Inception to Broadway, to be held at the Vineyard on November 22 at 7pm.

The event will feature cast members Colman Domingo and Sharon Washington, bookwriter David Thompson, and journalists Elisabeth Vincentelli and Steven Suskin. David Rooney will moderate the discussion, which will focus on the complexities of developing theatre from the more risk-free environment of Off-Broadway to the bright lights of the Broadway arena.

The Scottsboro Boys, which premiered at the Vineyard, explores the infamous “Scottsboro” case of the 1930’s when a group of African-American teenagers were unjustly accused of attacking two white women — and the boys’ attempts to prove their innocence. It features music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb, with direction and choreography by Susan Stroman. It is currently playing an open-ended engagement in Broadway’s Lyceum Theater.
