Al Pacino, Susan Sarandon Set for Arbitrage Film

Stage veterans Al Pacino and Susan Sarandon will star in the financial thriller Arbitrage, according to a report in Variety. Nicholas Jarecki is writing and directing the project, which will begin filming in Manhattan next spring.

The movie centers on a a hedge fund magnate (Pacino), who needs to complete the sale of his trading empire before his ongoing fraud is revealed.

Pacino is currently starring on Broadway in as Shylock in The Merchant of Venice. He is a two-time Tony Award winner for his work in Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie? and The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel. His other Broadway appearances include American Buffalo, Hughie, and Salome. He is an eight-time Oscar nominee, winning for Scent of a Woman. In addition, he has won Emmy Awards for his performances in HBO’s Angels in America and You Don’t Know Jack.

Sarandon made her Broadway debut in Exit the King. She won her Oscar for her performance in Dead Man Walking. Among her other film credits are Thelma and Louise, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Lorenzo’s Oil.
