Ugly Betty Writer Joel Fields to Receive Abingdon’s Christopher Brian Wolk Award

Abingdon Theatre Company will present Joel Fields with the 2009 Christopher Brian Wolk Award, for his new play How I Fell in Love, at an award ceremony and staged reading in the June Havoc Theatre on Monday, November 9, at 7:30pm. The reading will be directed by Jules Ochoa.

In the play, two lost souls haplessly seek romance as they stumble into adulthood. Fields is best known for writing episodes of TV’s Ugly Betty, Raising the Bar, Commander in Chief, and Dirt.

The award is presented to an American writer of a full-length play not produced in New York City, and is based upon the writer’s demonstrated ability to reach a mature artistic vision using theatre. Recipients receive a $1,000 cash prize in addition to the staged reading.

The reading is free and open to the public. A wine reception will follow. For reservations or more information, visit www.abingdontheatre.org.
